PRN 0099L Fundamentals of Practical Nursing II Clinical
This course builds on the students’ knowledge of clinical concepts and skills for the practical nurse. The course incorporates essential skills related to communication, safety, ethical and legal responsibilities, nutrition and diet therapy, pharmacologic principles, medication administration, teamwork and collaboration, mental health, and the application of critical thinking to geriatric client care. Students will demonstrate care skills of clients across the lifespan. In this course, concepts related to Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, mental health, medication administration, and nursing principles and the roles of the practical nurse (provider of care, communicator and member of the profession), are applied in the laboratory and clinical setting as the approach to the care of clients. This course consists of 180 clock hours (40 laboratory hours and 140 clinical hours).
