PRN 0098L Fundamentals of Practical Nursing I Clinical
This course introduces the student to the lab and clinical concepts and skills of practical nursing. The course incorporates essential skills related to basic care, communication, safety, infection control, emergency response, ethical and legal responsibilities, nutrition and diet therapy, and the application of critical thinking to patient care. Students will demonstrate care skills for geriatric clients. In this course, concepts related to Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, nursing principles and the roles of the practical nurse (provider of care, communicator and member of the profession), are applied in the laboratory and clinical setting as the approach to the care of clients. This course consists of 210 clock hours (72 laboratory hours and 138 clinical hours).
