Radiography, AS
Program Summary
The Associate in Science in Radiography degree shall be awarded upon the completion of 77 semester credit hours. This 24-month program begins each January and contains academic and clinical components as part of the curriculum. Upon successful completion of all program requirements, the graduates will earn an AS degree in Radiography and are eligible to apply to take the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) credentialing examination.
The purpose of this program is to prepare individuals for transfer to the State University System and for entering the workforce as a radiographer. The radiographer is a vital member of the health care team by providing quality patient care and assisting in the diagnosis of disease and injury by using ionizing radiation. This program is designed to prepare students to become skilled members of health care teams. Students will learn to provide the patient care and technical expertise necessary to create a radiographic image used by physicians. Most radiographers are employed by hospitals and diagnostic imaging centers and clinics.

- Official transcript from each U.S. college and university attended other than PHSC
- Official scores from external agencies as appropriate for prerequisite courses (i.e., AP, CLEP, IB, etc.)
- Copy of current driver's license, (P.O. boxes will not be used for residency preference in the selection process.) If a driver's license, or equivalent, is not submitted as proof of residency, the application will be processed as a nonresident application.
- Overall GPA of 2.0 or higher
- Complete the following prerequisite courses with a combined GPA of 2.5 or higher and complete each course with at least a grade of "C" or higher:
- BSC 1085 Human Anatomy and Physiology I (3 credits)
- BSC 1085L Human Anatomy and Physiology I Laboratory (1 credit)
- BSC 1086 Human Anatomy and Physiology II (3 credits)
- BSC 1086L Human Anatomy and Physiology II Laboratory (1 credit)
- MAC 1105 College Algebra (3 credits)
Note: Once an application packet is submitted, it cannot be amended.
Selection Process
Applicants who meet minimum requirements as of the deadline dates will be ranked based upon prerequisite GPA and overall GPA.
Residents of Pasco and Hernando counties will receive preference over out-of-district residents.
Notice regarding academic history: Official transcripts are required and are reviewed as part of the application packet. If the applicant has previously attended a health science program and has multiple unsuccessful attempts in that program, the applicant may be disqualified by the selection committee. Applicants that were dismissed from a radiography program at another institution are ineligible for admission into this program at PHSC.
