ESC 1000 Introduction to Earth Science

Using the scientific method, critical thinking skills, data analysis, this course will examine the fundamental processes of the Earth system, composed of an atmosphere, hydrosphere, lithosphere, biosphere, and exosphere, through time. The course will also explore interactions between these spheres, including critical analysis of scientific theories and emphasize Earth’s connections with humans. A grade of “C” or higher must be attained.

Prerequisite

REA 0017 or REA 0011 or REA 0019 (completed with a grade of "C" or higher) and MAT 0028 or MAT 0022 or MAT 0055 (completed with a grade of "P" or "C" or higher) or appropriate placement test score. Students who are not required to take the common placement test or enroll in developmental education courses do not have to satisfy prerequisites.
