FFP 1301 Fire Service Hydraulics

This course provides an overview of the theory of hydraulics as it applies to the fire service. The course curriculum covers relationships between flow and pressure and mathematical hydraulic formulas. The movement of water through fire department hoses, calculating friction loss and understanding the principals of how water works to extinguish fire are covered. Mathematical equations to calculate water quantity, weight and friction loss are also taught. This course provides a basis for operating fire service pumping apparatus. This course is one of the two required courses for certification as a fire service apparatus and pump operator in the state of Florida.
