MAT 0056 Foundations of Mathematics
This developmental mathematics course is targeted to specific skill gaps. Instruction will be individualized and students will be required to complete assignments containing those competencies not yet mastered. Topics may include whole numbers, integers, solving equations, rational numbers, decimals, ratios, proportions, and percents, geometric figures and their measures, problem solving. This course must be completed with a grade of "P". This course does not satisfy mathematical requirements in general education or apply toward a degree.
Prerequisite
Appropriate placement test score. Students who are not required to take the common placement test or enroll in developmental math courses do not have to satisfy prerequisites.
Notes
Exempt students are not required to take a common placement test and are not required to enroll in developmental education instruction. An exempt student is defined as:
- Students who entered 9th grade in a Florida public school in the 2003-2004 school year, or any year thereafter, and earned a Florida standard public high school diploma.
- A student who is serving as an active duty member of any branch of the United States Armed Services.
If you believe this exemption applies to you, you will need to provide proof of your exemption to an admissions representative at any PHSC campus for your exemption to be processed.
