Testing Services

Testing Services administers hundreds of testing options for the academic and career success of student, alumni, and community members. All students are encouraged to utilize the available resources throughout their educational experience at PHSC. Test types include basic skills assessment, civic literacy assessment, common placement into college coursework, admissions exams for limited access career programs, career assessment, industry certification for employment, prior learning assessment for earning college credit, and proctored exams for other institutions. Available exams include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Admissions: Florida Basic Abilities Test (FBAT), HESI A2 Admissions Exam, and Test of Essential Academics Skills (TEAS);
  • Basic Skills: General Education Development (GED) test and Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE);
  • Career Assessments: Career Thoughts Inventory (CTI), Florida Ready to Work, and Self-Directed Search (SDS);
  • Civic Literacy: Florida Civic Literacy Exam (FCLE) and CLEP American Government;
  • Common Placement: ACCUPLACER and Postsecondary Education Readiness Test (PERT);
  • Prior Learning Assessments: College-Level Examination Program (CLEP), DSST, and UExcel;
    • Language Exams: BYU Foreign Language Achievement Testing Service (FLATS) and CLEP French, German, and Spanish exams
  • Industry Certification: Testing Services operates multiple authorized, professional testing centers through Certiport, CIW, Florida Certification Board, Meazure Learning, Manufacturing Skill Standards Council, Pearson VUE, and more.
    • Industry certification exams include Certiport (AutoDesk, Microsoft, Python, QuickBooks); National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) Certified Surgical Technologist; CIW (JavaScript Specialist and Web Design Specialist); CompTIA (A+, Network +, Project+, Security+); Florida Fire Bureau of Fire Standards and Training Exams (Firefighter II),\; Florida State Officer Certification Examination (SOCE); Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC) Certified Production Technician (CPT); National Healthcare Association (NHA) (Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT)); and many more exams for business, healthcare, IT, and other careers

Testing Services is affiliated with state and national professional associations including the Florida Association of College Test Administrators (FACTA), the National College Testing Association (NCTA), and the NCTA Proctoring Network (CCTC). In additional to professional association standards, the department also abides by test vendor requirements, state and federal statues, and the APA Standard for Educational and Psychological Testing.
