NUR 2460 Maternal/Child Nursing (Generic)

This nursing course emphasizes the didactic content utilized in the contemporary role and scope of practice of the registered nurse while providing family-centered care to diverse obstetric, gynecologic, and pediatric clients. The principles of nursing process, critical thinking and clinical judgement are applied to the course content, which progresses in a simple to complex manner that includes antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care, complications of pregnancy, newborn care, human growth and development, health promotion, pediatric care, selected pediatric, and behavioral health alterations. The course objectives are designed for the learner to gain the knowledge, skills, and behaviors necessary to manage, teach, therapeutically communicate and provide evidenced-based care to these specialized populations. This course consists of 75 theory hours.
