ENL 2330 Introduction to Shakespeare

This course provides an opportunity for guided reading, analysis, and discussion of Shakespeare's plays and sonnets. Students read and view plays representative of Shakespeare's mastery of a variety of dramatic genres (comedy, history, tragedy, romance). Students learn the characteristics of each of these dramatic genres as well as the wide variety of literary techniques which give the plays their depth and richness. Students also learn the defining features of Shakespearean sonnets. In additions, students will be introduced to the cultural-historical context of Shakespeare's life and works. This is a writing credit course with international and intercultural content. This course satisfies the Gordon Rule writing requirement. A grade of "C" or higher must be attained.
