General Education Requirements (38 credits)
Students who have completed an Associate in Arts (AA) degree at a public Florida college may have met the General Education Requirements. Students who have completed an AA degree at an institution outside of Florida, or those who have earned an Associate in Science (AS) degree or Diploma in nursing, but have General Education courses that may vary from the requirements below, should consult with an advisor to determine if acceptable substitutions may satisfy some or all of Pasco-Hernando State College's General Education Requirements. Students may need to take additional General Education courses in order to satisfy degree requirements. All students must complete all required General Education requirements as outlined by the curriculum areas (I through IV) prior to graduation.
Area I: Communications (9 credit hours)
Area II: Mathematics (6 credit hours)
- Any Area II college-level math course listed in the Associate of Science Degree Program Requirements
- STA 2023 - Introduction to Statistics (required for NUR 4164)
Area III: Natural Sciences (8 credit hours)
- BSC 1085 - Human Anatomy and Physiology I and BSC 1085L - Human Anatomy and Physiology I Laboratory
- BSC 1086 - Human Anatomy and Physiology II and BSC 1086L - Human Anatomy and Physiology II Laboratory
Area IV: Social and Behavioral Sciences (6 credit hours)
- PSY 1012 - Introduction to Psychology (required)
- Any 3 credit hour course in Area IV listed in the Associate in Science Degree Program Requirements
Area V: Humanities (6 credit hours)
- PHI 1630 - Applied Ethics (required for NUR 3826)
- Any 3 credit hour course in Area V listed in the Associate in Science Degree Program Requirements
Note(s):
Credit earned in courses not offered by PHSC but awarded via transfer evaluation, examinations and other external credit mechanisms also may be used to meet the Area V requirement. Courses must begin with the following prefixes: ARH, HUM, MUL, PHI, REL, or THE. The credit-hour requirement noted above still must be met as specified in the AS program description.
