Demonstrate Readiness for Coursework
Students planning to enroll in degree programs including College Career and Technical Certificate programs and/or college-level English and math courses may be required to take a common placement test for proper placement into coursework. The common placement test assesses reading, writing and mathematics skills and recommends placement into college-level or developmental education courses. Students enrolling into most technical certificate programs must take the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) within the first six weeks of the program in order to assess basic skills required for certification.
Students who have a bachelor's degree, transfer credits in English and mathematics or previously taken an ACT, Accuplacer, FCAT 2.0, PERT or SAT exam within the last two years may submit validated records to Admissions to receive an exception to testing. Some students may also be exempt from testing including recent graduates of a Florida public high school or active duty military. Speak to Admissions about required documentation for this exemption. Note: Test scores become inactive after two years.
