Medical Assistant - Career Certificate
PHSC's Medical Assistant program prepares students for employment as a Medical Assistant. Under the supervision of licensed medical personnel, a Medical Assistant supports the physician and other licensed staff in the management and care of patients in a medical office or other healthcare setting. A Medical Assistant performs basic clerical and office administration skills and medical duties that include, but are not limited to phlebotomy skills, clinical laboratory skills, and patient examination skills.
To receive a certificate, students must meet the basic skills requirement for the program with a minimum 10th grade level score in English language arts (reading or language) and mathematics. Refer to the Basic Skills Requirements for Career Certificate Programs section under Academic Policies for a full list of exceptions and additional details.
