PMT 0091 Welding II

This course provides basic welding principles and skills in shielded metal arc welding (SMAW). This includes skills in set-up and operation of SMAW equipment to make pad, fillet, and groove welds. It is designed to build on skills and knowledge students have learned previously for entry into the welding industry as a basic Shielded Metal Arc Welder. It provides instruction on intermediate SMAW skills to include making advance welds, design and creation of products, fabrication of custom product, and repair of ferrous and nonferrous metals. It builds skills in the use of basic and intermediate gas metal arc welding (GMAW). Students will learn to operation, maintain, and make minor repairs to equipment. The course also introduces basic skills in flux-cored arc welding (FCAW), including skills in setting up, operating, and making welds using FCAW equipment, performing safety inspections, and minor equipment repairs.
