PHM 2300 Philosophy of Politics and Justice

An examination of the central concepts in political thought including rights, laws, justice, liberty, obligation, political sovereignty, legitimate authority and the nature of political community. Emphasis is on classical theories and their relation to contemporary issues.

Prerequisite

REA 0017 or class='sc-courselink' href='/en/2023-2024/catalog-and-student-handbook/courses/rea-reading/0000/rea-0011'>REA 0011 or REA 0019 and ENC 0025 or ENC 0021 or ENC 0022 (completed with a grade of "C" or higher for each course) or appropriate placement test scores. Students who are not required to take the common placement test or enroll in developmental education courses do not have to satisfy the prerequisites.
