ASC 1566 Unmanned Vehicle System Mission Planning

This course introduces mission planning and operational planning; primary, alternate, and contingency planning; mission planning software; data collection; documentation and analysis; and commonly used tools and resources. Students learn the technical capabilities and limitation of the unmanned systems available for use, and why selection of the right system and sensor combination is important to obtaining the right data for a project. Through various incrementally challenging training exercises and scenarios, including simulated site surveys, crime or accident scene investigations, disaster and emergency management support, etc., students will demonstrate their ability to develop appropriate situational awareness skills and synthesize appropriate mitigation strategies against potential threats from ground, air and meteorological sources while completing all mission objectives. Students also gain exposure to writing pre and post mission-planning reports.
