GEY 2000 Introduction to Gerontology
This course offers an overview of the effects of aging and the aged on our society. It is designed for students with a personal or professional interest in acquiring broad-based knowledge and understanding of the aging process and the aged both as individuals and as a group. Topics include: physical and psychological aspects of aging; health and mental health issues; institutionalization; retirement; finances; recreation and leisure; death, dying, and bereavement; and personal adaptations of aging. Practical information on services available to the aged through social agencies, government programs, and national organizations will be presented, along with information regarding employment possibilities in the field of gerontology.
