HUS 2428 The Disabled Experience

This course traces the history of the disabled experience in the United States through implementation of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1992. The nature of various disabling conditions to include developmental disorders, mental disorders, sensory disabilities, motor disabilities, and chronic, temporary, and progressive conditions are explored. The course emphasizes the obstacles faced by disabled persons and the steps that must be taken to increase opportunities for participation in all aspects of society.
